With an extensive track record in healthcare business development, Hal Wurtzel understands the California healthcare market as well as out-of-state markets.
Before launching HW Consulting Group in 2015, Hal was a senior vice president for the 380-bed Valley Presbyterian Hospital in Van Nuys, California, a position he held for nearly 15 years.
Previously, Hal was senior vice president at Pacific Health Resources (PHR), where he directed one of the largest west coast healthcare consulting firms. At PHR, he oversaw all strategic planning, financial feasibility, marketing, and management engineering projects. Many, but not all, of the consulting engagements were for owned and managed healthcare facilities and related organizations of the Lutheran Hospital Society (some of those client facilities/programs are now part of Dignity Health and United Health Care).
Hal’s other health experience, both local and national, is in managed care/network development, biomedical research administration, ambulatory care operations, and healthcare policy.
A graduate of the University of Southern California, Hal earned his Master's degree in Healthcare Administration and his Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. He was a faculty member at the University of Arizona and a guest instructor at universities throughout California and the west coast.
